Elders & Youth Retreat

First, I would like to start off by saying the Elders and Youth Retreat 2024 in Kangiqsualujjuaq was a huge success thanks to all of the participants and the exceptional team at QYC.

There were so many incredible experiences shared such as 4 nights camping on the land, campfires, sewing, fishing and harvesting traditional food like mussels, seaweed, and fish. Thank you to our outstanding cooks who prepared everything we caught for our meals to ensure we had the best meals. The environment was so relaxing, calm, and quiet, most of us did not want to leave when the time was up!

It was truly amazing to see the participants who started out a bit more shy/quiet or
to themselves, come out of their shells, participate with the rest of the group, engage in activities and make the most out of the opportunity. It is incredible to see youth and elders come together, make each other feel more comfortable, connected, and have a feeling of security.

The experiences shared between the youth and elders are moments that will last
a lifetime.

As we prepare for future Elders and Youth Retreat’s, we would like to encourage elders and youth to engage in this amazing opportunity to reconnect with the land, culture and elders in a natural way.
