AQPIK JAM ARTS & CULTUREAQPIK JAM

Kuujjuaq Youth Group 2024

The practices and performance went really well! 6 days of practices! We had children between the ages of 3 and 13, and they all did amazing on stage. At the Aqpik Jam music festival, we had a fun reward at the end of our show. Sandy Emudluk and I announced the two outstanding performers, young Inuk throat singer Marissa Sequaluk, where she had the opportunity to invite her friend, young Inuk throat singer Elenora Berthe and young Inuk drummer Aiden Stevenson.

We were surprised, as we were a little nervous about announcing the two, fearing we might put anyone down, but all the kids knew who the outstanding performers were, and everyone did absolutely amazing! The two exceptional performers, alongside Marissa’s friend, will have another chance to join Sandy and me in a professional recording that will eventually be aired in 2025, called “Indigenous Realities,” where they will highlight and share about the 11 Indigenous nations in Quebec.
